The Newburyport Bank Charitable Foundation has donated $2,500 to the City Improvement Society (CIS) of Newburyport. The donation was used to help offset costs for the repainting of the historic light poles in downtown Newburyport. These have gone through a transformation since the first lit during the Colonial era and the CIS is committed to their preservation.
“Newburyport boasts a rich history of street lighting that beautifully reflects its maritime heritage,” said Jim McCarthy, President and COO of Newburyport Bank. “With the next phase of restoration complete, the Newburyport Bank Charitable Foundation is proud to have contributed. Preserving the historical character of our community is something Newburyport Bank takes seriously. We’re proud to support efforts that honor our past and help ensure Newburyport continues to shine—both literally and figuratively—for generations to come.”
